However, a dehydrated hydrangea can wilt surprisingly quickly. This does not necessarily mean the flower is no longer fresh—it can often be revived with proper hydration.

When your hydrangeas arrive, remove the small water pouch used for transportation. Using a sharp, clean knife, recut approximately 1–2 inches from the stem on a diagonal and immediately place the flower in a clean bucket or vase filled with fresh water, ideally with floral food. Hydrangeas perform particularly well in water-based designs, so maintaining a reliable water source throughout your event is important.

If a hydrangea wilts, don't immediately discard it. Recut the stem with a sharp knife and place it back into fresh water. For a severely dehydrated bloom, submerging the hydrangea and stem in clean water for a few hours can help it rehydrate before returning it to your arrangement.
