Hanging Red Amaranthus is a dramatic locally grown flower known for its long, cascading tassels in rich shades of red and burgundy. Its naturally trailing form creates movement, texture and depth, making it an excellent choice for floral designs where a flowing or cascading effect is desired.
One of the distinctive characteristics of Hanging Red Amaranthus is its natural variation from stem to stem. The hanging spikes will not all look identical: some stems may be fuller and more heavily branched, while others may have fewer tassels. The cascading spikes can also vary considerably in length. This variation is a natural characteristic of the flower and gives arrangements a loose, organic appearance.
Locally grown in Canada, Hanging Red Amaranthus is a seasonal flower available approximately from mid-summer through late fall. Stems measure approximately 24–28 inches in height, with cascading flower spikes extending from the upper portion of the stem.
Its rich red colouring and trailing habit make it especially effective in cascading bouquets, elevated centrepieces, arches, installations and arrangements designed to flow over the edge of a container.
